ENTRY REQUIREMENT INTO DEGREE PROGRAMMES OF THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, MINNA.

A.      SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE AND AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY
          For all courses in the School, candidates must possess the following:

Direct Entry

UME

Two A’ level passes in Chemistry and one from Biology/Biology/Zoology/Agric. Science, Economics, Physics, Geography and Geology/Mathematics (Pure and Applied).  HND or OND with a minimum of lower credit.
In addition, candidates must possess at least four credits in the UME requirement.

Five O’level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Agric. Science, Chemistry and any one of Physics, Geography, Economics, Home Economics, Food and Nutrition.

 

B.      SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AND ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
          For all the courses in the School candidates must possess the following:

Direct Entry

UME

O’level passes in Physics and Mathematics.  HND or OND with a minimum of lower credit in relevant fields.
In addition, O’level passes at credits level in four UME subjects are required.

Five O’level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any one from other Science subjects.

 

C.      SCHOOL OF ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY
          For the courses in the School, candidates must possess the requirements as   follows:

Two A’ level passes in Mathematics/Physics and Chemistry, Geography or Fine Arts.
HND or OND with a minimum of lower credit in relevant field.

Five O’level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and Physics, and any two from Chemistry, Geography, Biology, Economics, Fine Arts and Technical Drawing
  1. Building

Two A’ level passes in Mathematics/Physics and Chemistry.  HND or OND with a minimum of lower credit.
In addition, O’level passes at credit level in four UME subjects are required.

Five O’level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry and any one of Geography, Economics,  Fine Arts and Technical Drawing.

  1. Estate Management

Two A’ level passes in Maths, Economics, Geography, Biology and Physics.  HND or OND with a minimum of lower credit.
In addition, O’level passes at credit level in four UME subjects are required.

Five O’level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Economics and any one of Chemistry, Biology, Fine Arts or Technical Drawing.
  1. Urban and Regional Planning

Two A level passes in Geography and Mathematics or Economics.  HND or OND with a minimum of lower credit.
In addition, O’level passes at credit level in four UME subjects are required.

Five O’level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Geography and any two of Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Government, Biology, Fine Arts or Technical Drawing.

D.      SCHOOL OF SCIENCE AND SCIENCE EDUCATION
          For all the courses in the School, candidates must possess the following:

a.     Geography

Two A’ level passes in Geography and any other Science subject.
In addition, O’level passes at credit level in four UME subjects are required

Five O’level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and any one from other Science subjects.

b.     Physics

Two A’ level passes including Physics NCE (credit) OND/HND (lower credit) plus O’level credit passes in Physics, Mathematics and two Science subjects.

Five O’level credit passes to include English Language, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

c.     Chemistry

Two A’ level passes in Chemistry and any of Physics, Mathematics or Biology.  HND at lower credit level plus at least four O’level credit passes in appropriate subjects.

Five O’level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

d.     Geology

Two A’ level passes from Geology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Biology and Geography.
Accept Physics/Biology/
Geography.  In addition, O’level passes at credit level in four UME subjects are required.

Five O’level credit passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and any other subjects.

e.     Maths/Computer

Two A’ level passes in Mathematics and Physics.  Accept Diploma in Data processing, Telecommunication Computer studies or Computer Engineering with at least upper credit from a recognized institution.  Accept NCE & OND with a minimum of lower credit.  In addition, O’level passes at credit level in four UME subjects are required.

Five O’level credit in English Language, Mathematics and any three of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Further Maths and Technical Drawing.

f.     Biology

Two A’ level passes from Chemistry, Biology, Botany/Zoology.  NCE with at least merit level pass.  In addition, O’level passes at credit level in four UME subjects are required.  Accept Physics, OND/HND lower credit plus UME requirement with 200 and 300 levels respectively.

Five O’level passes at credit level in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

g.    Biochemistry

Two A’ level passes chosen from Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology.  Accept OND/HND with at least lower credit plus four O’level credit passes in relevant subjects.

Five O’level passes at credit level in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

h.     Microbiology

Two A’ level passes in Chemistry and any other from Biology, Zoology or Botany.  In addition O’level passes at credit level in four UME subjects are required.

Five O’level at credit level in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Physics.

i.     Industrial Tech.                    
        Education (ITE)

Two A’ level passes in Physics and Mathematics. ii. ND with at least lower credit in Civil Engineering, Production/ Electrical Engineering.
iii. Final city and guilds or its equivalent plus National Technical certificate.
iv. NCE in Technical Education plus credit passes in Physics or Mathematics.  In addition, four O’level passes at credit level in relevant subjects are required.
 

Five O’level credits to include Physics and one other subject.

j.     Science Education

Two A’ level passes in relevant Science subjects which should include candidate’s proposed course.
ii. NCE credit/merit passes in addition to TC II merit or O’level credit in relevant subjects.
In addition, four O’level credit pass in relevant subjects are required.

Five O’level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics and two other Science subjects.

k.     Library and
        Information Tech.
         (LIT)

Two A’ level passes in relevant subjects plus UME requirements.
ii. NCE (merit) in relevant subjects.  In addition, four O’level passes at credit level including English and Mathematics are required.

Five O’level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and three other relevant Arts/Science/Social Science subjects.
